Botox has come a long way—from being developed and used for medical purposes as early as the 1970s to becoming the world’s most popular and sought after cosmetic procedure.
The most common and conventional use of Botox as a cosmetic procedure involves the method of injecting directly into the muscle to impede muscle contractions. This results in the elimination of dynamic lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead lines.
The next big thing in the medical aesthetic industry is an advancement of this conventional use via a technique known as Microbotox. This technique is exclusively available at The Grand and we are proud to be the first and only clinic to offer this in Markham and the rest of GTA!
What is MicroBotox?
MicroBotox is a newer and more advanced Botox technique developed to lift and rejuvenate the skin. With MicroBotox, rather than injecting Botox in the muscles, Botox is injected into the dermis, the inner layer of the skin. Using a fine needle, almost the size of a single strand of hair, Botox is applied to specific targeted locations in the dermis. When Botox is injected in the dermis, various skin organs are affected including the sweat glands, sebaceous glands (which secrets oil; an excessive amount of secretion can contribute to acne breakouts), and Arrector Pili Muscles. By temporarily weakening these muscles and glands, the skin will become noticeably tighter, lifted, and smoother. In other words, MicroBotox essentially gives patients a non-invasive, natural-looking facelift.
Additional Benefits:
In addition to lifting and rejuvenating the skin, MicroBotox also helps control and normalize oil production in the skin, allowing it to be less congested and less prone to breakouts.
Like conventional Botox, MicroBotox will treat and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, compared to conventional Botox, many patients may notice that the results are much more natural as the muscles are not impacted. Nonetheless, whether conventional Botox or MicroBotox, results depend largely on the experience and expertise of the injector.
Comfortable and painless procedure:
Since the MicroBotox needles are small and the injection depth so shallow, MicroBotox treatments are generally painless, with none of the discomfort you would normally feel with injections from a large needle.
How long will it take, and how long does it last?
Each MicroBotox session takes about 15-40 minutes to complete, depending on the treatment area. The effects will last from 3 to 4 months, depending on the individual and the treatment amount. To achieve optimal results, we recommend at least 3 treatment sessions, 3 months apart, and continue treatment for maintenance.
