PDO THREAD LIFT

WHAT IS PDO THREAD LIFT?

A unique antiaging procedure in which absorbable sutures are used to elevate the deeper layers of the skin to effectively and instantly lift, tighten and contour sagging tissues on the face and body. A natural, but visible lift is created, without the need for surgery and with minimal downtime.

Gradual, Ongoing Skin Rejuvenation

Immediate lifting effects are accompanied by gradual, ongoing skin rejuvenation as the unique nature of the threads stimulates natural collagen production and neovascularization. Following procedure, as a biological response to foreign bodies, the skin will attempt to heal and expel the sutures. During this natural healing process, collagen continues to be directed to the treated areas, combating any signs of aging and rejuvenating the skin. After the threads dissolve in 6-8 months, it is replaced by new collagen and connective tissue, hence allowing results to last for 1 year or longer.

Restoring a Youthful V-Shape Face with Cheek & Jawline Lift

The effects of gravity along with loss of collagen and facial fat as we age may lead to sagging skin, particularly in the mid and lower face areas. This is where Cheek & Jawline Lift comes in; this facial lifting combo has proven effective at:

✔️ Reducing the appearance of nasolabial folds (smile lines), jowls, and marionettes

✔️ Contours the face and reduces facial roundness

✔️ Enhances jawline definition

✔️ Reduces the appearance of a double chin

✔️ Stimulates collagen production and rejuvenates the skin

PDO THREADS ARE PROVEN TO BE SAFE & EFFECTIVE

PDO threads are sterile synthetic absorbable sutures composed of polydioxanone. This medical suture has been used safely for surgery for decades.  Rather than being used to seal surgical incisions, PDO sutures are used as a means of lifting and tightening sagging skin and creating micro-injuries in the skin in areas that have seen the effects of aging. The strong filament fiber consists of a few twisted fiber threads that integrate into the deeper layers of the skin and naturally dissolve in about 6-8 months.

“Barbed” PDO Threads Produce a Natural Looking Facelift

The lift procedure uses barbed threads to produce immediate lifting effects. The “barbs” provide grips underneath the skin and allow the threads to latch into tissues during implantation.  The threads efficiently pull sagging, loose skin that can accumulate in the mid and lower parts of our faces such as the cheeks and jawline. As a result, many patients will enjoy the convenience of a natural-looking facelift without the downtime and potential complications associated with surgery.

WHAT AREAS CAN WE TREAT WITH THREADLIFT?

There are various types of PDO threads and specialized lift techniques; the nurse injector will carefully assess to determine the most suitable treatment approach for each patient.

Common areas of treatment include:

FACE:

  • Cheeks (aka mid face lift)
  • Jawline (aka lower face lift)
  • Eyebrows (aka upper face lift)
  • Nose lift
  • Neck lift

BODY

PDO threads can also be used to lift and tighten skin on the body. The following body treatments will be launched at GMA in the near future: tummy tuck, butt lift, thigh lift, knee lift, upper arms and breast lift.

THE FOX-EYE LIFT (aka Brow Lift)

Thread lifts can be used to create the highly sought after “fox-eye” or “cat-eye” effect whereby the eyes and outer corners of brows are temporarily raised and upturned for a more refreshed look.

THE NOSE LIFT

The Nose Lift is a specialized procedure for the enhancement of nose shape. Threads can be used in the nose area to correct a drooping tip, hump nose or a short nose as well as for dorsal augmentation and nasal width reduction.

FAQs

  1. STEP 1: Preparation and numbing:

After the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed and disinfected, local anesthetics will be administered to help minimize discomfort during treatment.

  1. STEP 3: Thread insertion:

Following numbing, PDO threads are inserted via a needle or cannula (blunt tip needle) into the deeper layers of the skin. Once inserted, the barbed threads latch into the tissues during implantation and lift the skin upwards. The excess threads are then removed.

The entire procedure usually takes on average around 45 minutes, depending on the area(s) of treatment and needs of the patient.

Lifting and tightening results may last for 1 year or longer, varying from patient to patient. When combined with other collagen induction treatments such as Infini RF Microneedling, results are typically better and more lasting. To maintain results, thread lift therapy is recommended to be performed every 12 months or so.

The downtime is typically minimal and patients can return to work the following day. It is normal to experience up to a few weeks of tenderness and discomfort in the treated areas. There may be mild bruising and swelling which will subside on their own within a few weeks at most.

Lidocaine is injected prior to insertion of threads to help limit discomfort during the procedure. Following thread lift, the patient may feel tenderness for up to 2 weeks.

The short answer is BOTH, as the two antiaging treatments can be combined for synergistic results. PDO thread Lift, along with heat and collagen induction treatments such as Infini RF Microneedling, HIFU and Thermage, all work by the principle of selective inflammatory response whereby controlled microinjuries are created in the skin to spur the skin’s natural healing process and ultimately the formation of new collagen and more youthful skin.  While PDO threads will also stimulate neocollagenesis, the amount of collagen production would not be the same as these heat treatments. For the best results, Infini RF Microneedling and PDO Thread Lift should be combined for instant lifting and tightening benefits along with ongoing facial rejuvenation.

It depends on the area of treatment and the amount of volume and lifting that is needed for the individual patient. The patient may benefit from one treatment or both Thread Lift and Fillers. It is important to note that PDO threads do not provide the same volume replacement as dermal fillers. The two can therefore be combined for more lifting and tightening, along with volume replenishment.
