What Is GMA ExoFacial?

A revolutionary treatment delivering exosomes via microneedling to rejuvenate and repair the skin. This innovative approach leverages the natural healing and regenerative properties of exosomes to restore the skin’s firmness, elasticity, and resilience.

Who is it for?

ExoFacial is safe and effective across all skin types, clinically proven to improve texture, pore size, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, hydration, brightness, redness, and irritation.

Clinically Proven Benefits of Exosomes:

  • Tissue Regeneration: Presence of growth factors, cytokines, and proteins within exosomes help regenerate tissue and enhance skin tone and texture.
  • Collagen Synthesis & Skin Elasticity: By enhancing the proliferation of fibroblasts and stimulating collagen and elastin production, exosomes address common age-related concerns such as wrinkles and sagging skin.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties & Reducing Skin Sensitivity: Their ability to reduce inflammation makes them versatile, not just for cosmetic applications but also for the purpose of treating conditions with an inflammatory component such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), and rosacea.
  • Facilitation of Cell Communication & Functions: The role of exosomes in cellular communication underpins many of their regenerative effects, ensuring that skin cells can more effectively repair and maintain the skin’s integrity.
  • Regulation of Pigment Production: There is evidence to suggest that exosomes may influence melanocytes (pigment-producing skin cells), leading to improvement in pigmentation disorders.
  • Smoothing Acne Scars & Uneven Skin Texture: Exosomes may assist with improving the appearance of atrophic acne scars and overall skin texture.

What are Exosomes? How Do They Work?

Exosomes are tiny vesicles, about 30 to 200 nanometers wide, produced by virtually all cell types in our body. Think of them as miniature packages that cells secrete into the surrounding environment. These packages carry various molecules, including growth factors, proteins, nucleic acids (such as DNA and RNA), and lipids. The exact contents of exosomes can vary depending on the type of cell that produces them. What makes exosomes special is their role in facilitating cell-to-cell communication. They can travel from one cell to another, delivering their cargo of signaling molecules, which can influence the behavior of the receiving cell and boost their functionality.

MSC-Exosomes for Skin Health, Regeneration & Rejuvenation

At GMA, we use premium MSC or mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes sourced from adipose tissue.  These exosomes have been clinically proven to mirror the therapeutic effects of their parent stem cells. When directly applied to the skin, exosomes can deliver their cargo of growth factors, proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and other molecules to various skin cells, influencing cellular processes such as repair and regeneration.

Exosomes can encourage fibroblasts to proliferate and contribute to the processes of wound healing, tissue repair and rejuvenation. By delivering key growth factors to fibroblasts, exosomes can regulate collagen synthesis and disposition, leading to improved skin texture, elasticity, and firmness.

GMA ExoFacial Process

  • Numbing & Preparation: This initial step involves gently cleansing and exfoliating the skin to remove surface impurities. Topical numbing cream is then applied to ensure a comfortable experience throughout the procedure.
  • Microneedling:  Fine microneedles are used to create micro-channels in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries serve a dual purpose. Firstly, they stimulate the body’s natural healing response, leading to increased collagen and elastin production in the months to come. Secondly, these channels allow for deeper and more effective penetration of exosomes to maximize overall treatment efficacy.
  • Exosome Regenerative Cocktail Application: Following microneedling, the Exosome Regenerative Cocktail is applied – a clinically proven paraben-free and hypoallergenic formula designed to absorb quickly into the skin delivering over 5 billion lyophilized exosomes, potent growth factors, peptides, coenzymes, minerals, amino acids, and vitamins to rejuvenate and intensely moisturise the skin.
  • Calming Mask Application: A soothing silk sheet mask is gently placed over the skin to calm and reduce any immediate redness. This final step helps to lock in the exosomes and promote further hydration and skin recovery.

FAQs

Yes. They are versatile and can enhance the efficacy of other treatments, such as Infini RF Microneedling, Clear + Brilliant and other lasers and microneedling treatments. At GMA, we also offer the Exosome Regenerative Cocktail as an add-on option to our laser and microneedling treatments. With potent growth factors, amino acids, and essential vitamins and minerals, the cocktail helps to reduce post-treatment inflammation and soothe the skin and elicit collagen synthesis to enhance treatment results.

For patients with sensitive skin and are more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, applying exosomes can be an added insurance to minimize risk of complications.

The number of sessions needed can vary depending on individual skin conditions and goals. Generally, for optimal results, a series of treatments may be recommended, ranging from 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 2-4 weeks apart. We recommend new patients to book a consultation for a personalized treatment plan.

One of the appealing aspects of the ExoFacial is its minimal downtime. Most patients experience little to no downtime, making it an ideal “lunchtime” procedure. Some might experience slight redness or sensitivity immediately post-treatment, which typically resolves within a few hours to a day. The non-invasive nature of ExoFacial allows for a quick return to daily activities.

Some patients may notice an immediate improvement in skin texture and hydration following the treatment. However, the most significant results, especially in terms of skin regeneration and the reduction of lines or wrinkles, usually become more apparent within 2 to 4 weeks post-treatment. Optimal results are often observed after completing a series of treatments.

While both PRP and MSC-derived exosomes offer rejuvenating benefits through the presence of growth factors, they differ in their mechanisms of action. PRP provides a direct boost of growth factors to stimulate tissue repair, whereas MSC-derived exosomes lean on improving intercellular communication and regulation, thereby supporting the skin’s intrinsic ability to regenerate and repair. To find out whether one or both treatments would be best suited for your skin’s needs, we recommend booking a consultation and assessment.

Yes, the procedure is suitable for sensitive skin types. In fact, it’s specifically beneficial as it helps to strengthen the skin’s natural barrier and reduce inflammation. The clinically proven, hypoallergenic formula ensures safety and effectively, allowing patients with sensitive skin to experience rejuvenation and hydration without the concern of irritation.
