KEEPING YOUR SKIN HYDRATED ALL SUMMER LONG!

Summer is finally here and it’s time for us to go outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather all season long! While it’s important to live and have fun, we have to keep in mind that the summer heat and the harsh sun may strip away the moisture in our skin. We have prepared some simple tips for you so that your skin remains healthy, hydrated and glowing all day!

USE THE RIGHT SKINCARE PRODUCT
Moisturising the skin is not about adding thick creams and serums with ingredients that don’t penetrate and merely sit on top of skin. In fact, this may clog pores and cause acne! It is important to use skincare products that support the skin’s natural ability to lock in and produce its own moisture. Our favourite go-to is PCA Skin’s Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum.

DON’T FORGET SPF
We cannot stress this one enough! Indoor or outdoor, cloudy day or sunny day? The answer is always yes, wear your SPF! It is crucial to re-apply every 2-3 hours if you plan on staying out for long durations at a time. We love our Elta MD UV Daily SPF 40, it’s compact enough to throw into your bag. This product will help your skin stay hydrated without feeling greasy. Remember, SPF in the long run will shield your skin from harmful UV rays that can bring early onset of skin aging and pigmentation.

KEEP IT LIGHT WITH YOUR MAKEUP
To protect the skin’s natural glow, the most important thing is to stay away from heavy makeup and remember to get into the habit of taking it off before sleeping to let the pores breathe. When your makeup is too heavy, especially in the summer heat, it can easily clog your pores.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER TO HYDRATE THE SKIN FROM INSIDE OUT!
You’re definitely not drinking enough water this summer if you’re feeling fatigued, muscle cramping or dizziness – these are just a few indicators of dehydration. It’s important to remind yourself to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water per day.

REFRESH WITH SOME FRUITS
Fruits and veggies with a high water content can also help keep your hydration levels happy all summer long. In addition to hydration, these fruits can also help boost your vitamin intake to effectively improve the health of your skin from the inside out! Some delicious summer fruits and veggies that are great for hydration are watermelon, cucumbers, pineapple, celery; you can also add some berries into your water to add a touch of flavour.
